Moving your Outlook tasks into Voo2do

Girish Bharadwaj has posted an Outlook macro that can automatically export your task list from Outlook into Voo2do and similar systems. If you’ve been an Outlook user, this is an easy way to try out some new systems.

Now if only someone would write something that went the other direction: from Voo2do into Outlook!

Is that a challenge, Shimon? :) I will post a simple console app to move from voo2do to outlook over the weekend. I have it, I just need to clean up a bit.

  2. Shimon Says:

Sounds great! Now don’t you think it’d be better if it was an optional feature of Voo2doTray to automatically push your tasks into Outlook?

  3. Girish Says:

Yeah. yeah yeah. That would be very cool. One issue might be that you might need a mechanism to make sure that you are not ending with duplicate tasks on the outlook side. That can easily be solved by a macro to run on the outlook side to wipe off the duplicates. That would need voo2do to push the tasks with some id in them.

  4. Shimon Says:

In the Voo2do XML API (http://voo2do.com/help/api), all the methods that return <task> elements include the taskId attribute, which is an ID unique among voo2do tasks. Is that what you’re looking for?

  5. Girish Says:

Yeah. I forgot all about it. Its been a while since i worked on that. I will do that.

  6. Tim Says:

You should promote the tray app more, with a link on the front page of voo2do com, instead of burying it in the blog. It is a great feature.

P.S. Will reply to your long mail with one of my own soon, but have been in the middle of software release.

  7. Girish Says:

Well, I could not get voo2dotray to do this since it needs too many assemblies to be delivered as part of the app. Instead, I have written a simple outlook macro that will pull tasks from Voo2do. The macro is at

A similar hack for Lotus Notes tasks?

I am not sure if this is the right thread but are you guys working on something similar for Lotus Notes.

I use Lotus notes at work and it would be wonderful if you guys can extend the functionality.

    Thanks

Great macro. I know nothing about programming, but cut & pasted your text into the macro window and had immediate success.

I’d love to have it synchronize between Voo2Do and Outlook so I can sync with my phone.

    Great work. Really appreciate it.

    Wasn’t sure where to put this . . .

Is there anyone thinking of a little enhancement to enable e-mails to be sent from Voo2Do on a regular basis: like a daily summary??
