Then you’ll appreciate Scott Fleckenstein’s Voo2do2iCal, which provides iCalendar-format export for your Voo2do tasks. I’ve been planning to integrate iCal export into Voo2do, but haven’t gotten around to it; Scott’s API application works today. Enjoy!

P.S. If you don’t use a desktop calendaring program, such as Apple’s iCal or Mozilla Sunbird, you probably don’t need iCal export.

P.P.S. Don’t miss the Window tray application and other cool applications built on the voo2do API.

Voo2do user Robbie Coleman has created an updated Voo2do Windows tray application based on Girish Bharadwaj’s original voo2dotray. This version can save your login information, and includes some bugfixes, notably one addressing the issue where refreshes would crash the program if you have and projects that contain no tasks.

This application sits in your Windows tray (on the Start bar, near the clock) and lets you view and update your Voo2do tasks at a glance.

Robbie’s version requires that you install the Microsoft .NET framework 2.0. This is unlike the original, which used .NET 1.1.

I like this app a lot. Thanks, Girish and Robbie… now who’s going to write the Linux/GNOME version?

Update 12/20/2005: Robbie has fixed a couple more bugs having to do with proxies and the login dialog. Use the links above to download the latest version.

Denis Perekhrest (of http://inforedesign.com) has invented a cool way to connect your del.icio.us bookmarks to Voo2do. He’s using RssFwd, a service that watches an RSS feed and sends you email whenever a new item is posted, and Voo2do’s new support for adding tasks via email. Very Web 2.0.

The full article is at inforedesign and in Russian, but Denis kindly emailed me an English translation:

Title: del.icio.us + rssfwd + voo2do

Wanted:
Account on del.icio.us
Account on voo2do

What for:
In order not to loose interesting links and to make me write posts (translations).

Details:

Recently in voo2do service one new possibility appeared to create tasks via e-mail. Each account has it’s secret address, the letters sent to this address formed in a special but not difficult way, are automatically transferred into tasks. At the moment there are some problems with Cyrillic font, but the developer of the service in aware of it and is going to solve them.

All links to the articles I would like to translate or to use on my blog I used to put to the bookmarks in the browser to the folder 2_blog. Now it is possible to use another scheme, which requires more steps, but still is more profitable. Now I have access to my links anywhere where Internet is, and what is more important, it is not just a link any more, it is the tasks, which are to be done.

How does it work? You bookmark the page into del.icio.us , via marking this entry by special tag like post_2_blog. This tag has its own rss-feed. Copy this link…

… to the servise RSSFwd. Input address into the field of rss-fees, and on the next page — secret address of the account voo2do, adding to the address (following the instruction) something like
+blogpost
(equal to the name of the project in the voo2do).

And that’s all. And finally, bookmarking the page to del.icio.us with special tag, in some time (2-8 hours) you get the task to write or to translate the article in your task list.

And when you have a task, you have a stimulus to write or translate the article.

Author: Denis Perekhrest (http://inforedesign.com)

Neat hack!

My friend Girish has written an awesome Windows tray application for Voo2do. It sits in the corner of your screen and lets you easily add a task, browse tasks by project, and see tasks that are overdue or due today. It uses the Voo2do API. This program requires Windows and the .NET framework. It is released under the MIT license and the .zip file includes C# source code.

Descriptions: one and two

Download directly: voo2dotray.zip

Girish and I are both using this client app, and I will continue hounding him to add features just as he hounded me for voo2do.com.
